Concert Music

Summer Sinfonietta - Orchestra

A grandiose orchestral work featuring a saxophone section that frequently takes for forefront. Solos in the woodwind section gently introduce the themes, and the horns carry it home in a glorious fanfare.

O, Danny Boy - Chamber Ensemble

This setting of the traditional Irish song hits the gentle notes of saying "farewell" to a beloved child while wrestling with the very real fear that you may perish in the coming winter without the chance to reunite on this Earth. Originally set for trombone quartet, this version for strings, trombone, and clarinets hits the gentler notes and frailty in the high register.

Oh, My Soul - Choir

This setting of Psalm 103 is the composer's earliest-performed work and was born of a revelatory wrestling with the themes of sin and forgiveness. The key text, "as far as the East is from the West, so far has he removed us from our transgressions," helped the composer find understanding, and he hopes it will do the same for others.

Look and Listen - Choir & Piano

Look and Listen sets text from a Yosemite overlook that features a detailed description of the sounds produced by the local wildlife. Including a 40-second break to listen to wildlife recordings from the park itself, this piece is meant to give the audience a strong impression of austerity like overlooking the national park.

You Know Me - Choir & Piano

A choral introit featuring text from Psalm 139, this piece is an excellent way to open up a worship service. The text is a reminder to be open and receptive to guidance from above and to trust in the one who knows you best.
